Materials and Finishes
At BACD Studio great care is taken in sourcing and working with only the highest quality raw materials available to us, this is our first step in making the best furniture possible.
Our decision to work almost exclusively with wood stems from a desire to create products that are as natural as possible, while being durable, easy to repair, and eventually (many years in the future) biodegrade back to earth. To that end, we also aim to minimize the amount of metal fasteners or hardware, use only natural upholstery filling, and source fabrics made exclusively of natural fibers. When other materials such as glass are used in our furniture, we have made sure that they can be easily separated from the wooden elements, to ensure proper recycling. Finally, our finishes are chosen for their low VOC content.

Wood Species
The following is a selection of high quality, responsibly sourced, hardwoods from regional forests, these are our standard species. If you have a particular species or finish in mind, please reach out to discuss further.
All of our hardwoods are finished with either a hardwax-oil or lacquer based finish, both of which are clear semi-gloss. Generally speaking table tops are finished with lacquer for a more durable surface, and everything else is given the hardwax-oil. It is worth noting that wood is a natural, living material and each board conveys its own history and therefore has a unique appearance. This may include, but is not limited to, natural variation in grain and color, and markings from knots or other defects.

Hand Painted Colors
Traditional high quality, Danish Linseed Oil Paint, produced in the same way it has been done for centuries, allows us to add a pop of color to our wooden furniture in a natural and hardwearing manner. This brush applied - hand painted finish, is typically done over beech or oak wood and allows the wood grain to be seen through. It can also be sealed with lacquer for an even more durable, or glossy finish.
The below selection of colors have been carefully chosen to suit our furniture collection, however custom colors are available upon request.
Sample Kits
We offer a sample kit where you can select 6 different materials and finishes you would like to see. These cost $150 shipped anywhere worldwide - the cost of which will be deducted from the final amount of any furniture ordered. Each Sample Kit - like all our furniture - is made to order. If the particular samples you have selected are not currently in stock it can take 2-4 weeks to prepare these before sending.
